Profile & History
Ever since the former Ushiki International Patent Office
led by patent attorney Mamoru Ushiki, President, succeeded
to the patent firm established by senior patent attorney
Kazuo Ushiki in 1933, it had been making contributions
to the development of local industry in Niigata, through the
handling of IP applications and right-maintenance services
for intellectual property rights including patents, designs
and trademarks in Japan and foreign countries.. Patent
attorney Mamoru Ushiki has been making earnest efforts
in social works such as: invention promotion and consultancy
activities as the Vice Manager of Niigata Branch of JIII (Japan
Institute of Invention and Innovation), the President of Niigata
Invention Club for Schoolchildren; a guest professor of Regional
Collaboration Research Center of Niigata University, a part-time
lecturer of Mechanical Control System Engineering Department
of Engineering Faculty of Niigata Institute of Technology,
a guest research worker of Advanced Research Institute for
Science and Engineering of Waseda University, and etc., having
thus far handled many TLO-related applications as well.
Further, in recent
years, technical staffs have been continuously expanded, while
instantaneously introducing CAD system and Computerized Patent
Management System in order to meet clientfs needs not only
from local industry but also from Kanto areas including Tokyo.
On the other hand, strong ties with foreign associates and
patent firms of all over the world, including Europe, North
America, Asia, Africa and Oceania have been boasted with rich
accomplishments and experiences that have been built up ever
since the era of the former President, patent attorney
Kazuo Ushiki.
The Somekawa
Patent Office was established by patent attorney Rikichi
Somekawa in 1976, having thus far handled applications
in the field of Precision Machines, Instruments and Control
Engineering, Semiconductors, and etc..
On January 9,
2001, the two patent firms have been merged so that Ushiki,
Somekawa & Associates has been established.
